PESTFLY: Post entry surveillance of the oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis, via citizen science and pathway-based trapping
The research project PESTFLY aims to help to prevent the Oriental fruit fly B. dorsalis from entering the EU through Belgian trade or reaching Belgium through spread within the EU. We want to achieve this by a better understanding of the pathway that potentially affected fruit takes, deploying traps for this fruit fly more intelligently and enlisting the help of citizen scientists so that we have more eyes to detect this unwanted pest.
This project will run from 01/05/2025 till 31/10/2027.
